Following at a Distance

Having arrested [Jesus], they led Him and brought Him into the high priest's house. But Peter followed at a distance.

At that time, Peter was ashamed to stick too close to—to be too closely associated with—Jesus. Is it possible that we have some measure of faith, but would likewise rather follow Jesus at a distance instead of with full commitment and faithfulness?
