In Joshua 24, Joshua challenged Israel to commit to God alone and to leave other gods behind. He did so in Shechem, a place full of history for God's people, where God had first promised to give the land of Canaan to Abraham's descendants, and where Jacob had put away the false gods from his family. His challenge still stands for us to accept or reject today.
