God Responds to Job

We often characterize the tenor of God's rebuke of Job and his friends as simply to tell them, "Sit down, and shut up! I'm God, and you're not!" In doing so, we are not really being fair to God, especially given the character that God displays elsewhere in the Bible. Furthermore, God's list of examples to make His case is not random. He addresses specific charges that Job and his friends have made in the course of their casting about, trying to explain what has happened to Job.
