… A Place to Grow in Knowledge

… A Place to Grow in Knowledge

Thousands of years ago God through His prophet grieved, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me. Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children” (Hosea 4:6). In Hosea’s day, the priests (the spiritual leaders) could not be trusted to reform the people because even they had turned aside from knowing the Lord, although they maintained a pretense of knowing Him. Is our day different? For a concerned Bible believer, it is scary to be surrounded with supposed teachers having little true knowledge or care for God’s will. Jesus warned of following false teachers when He said:

Can the blind lead the blind? Will they not both fall into the ditch?” (Luke 6:39)

However, such blindness is not a fate that God intended for those that love Him. In fact, He provided the church for our growth, so that we might avoid this destruction:

for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head – Christ – from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love. (Ephesians 4:12-16; see also, 1 Timothy 3:15)

What did God provide the church and its members to grow into this stable, anchored, and mature state?

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

At Pepper Road, great attention is given to every member growing in knowledge of God’s Word, the Scriptures, through regular Bible classes and consistent preaching, which are provided every Sunday morning, Sunday evening, and Wednesday night. Bible drills and additional classes for all ages are overseen by the elders, whether conducted at the building or hosted at members’ houses, to further instruct our children, young adults, and members.

Does this interest you? Do you want to grow in the knowledge of God and His Scriptures, so you can avoid “destruction,” “rejection,” and “falling into the ditch”? Come study with us because we want to help you in your desire to better understand God and His revealed will, as we work together and all grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 3:18).
