Overcoming Spiritual Discouragement

Spiritual discouragement happens. It is nothing to be ashamed of; we all go through it from time to time. Spiritual discouragement even befell one of God’s mightiest prophets, Elijah the Tishbite, and furthermore it was on the heels of what may have been his greatest victory. If Elijah can suffer discouragement, so can we. But God was not content for Elijah to wallow in his discouragement, so neither should we be content to wallow in ours. With some prompting from the Lord, Elijah finally took up again the task God had for him. When we examine how God brought Elijah around, what can we learn about how to overcome spiritual discouragement when it besets us?
