Gospel versus Doctrine

Some “Christians” affirm a major distinction between “gospel” and “doctrine.” They claim that anyone who believes in the gospel, which they define too simply as the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus, is saved. Doctrine, for such individuals, is secondary and need not divide believers. Does the Bible affirm such a distinction? Have we drawn lines of fellowship that need not be drawn? This study explores the so-called gospel-doctrine distinction from both historical and scriptural viewpoints to determine what saves people and keeps them in fellowship with God and other believers.
