In Peter's first epistle, he wrote to Christians who had been facing persecution and who were perhaps beginning to wonder if they were doing the right thing, especially if living by their faith was the very thing provoked that persecution. Peter assured them that persecution would continue and even grow worse! But he also reassured them that persecution was part of the plan and that their steadfast faithfulness did not escape God's notice.
