Many of us have probably looked at the books of I & II Chronicles essentially as appendixes to I Samuel through II Kings. If we compare the content of I Chronicles with that of the books of Samuel and Kings, however, we find a different focus in Chronicles—a focus that likely was meant to aid a people returning from captivity to get to know God again and restore their worship of Him to its proper order.
