Paul is in prison because of what he has taught the Philippians, Colossians, and Ephesians (Gentiles). Paul is encouraging the Philippian brethren to continue on in what they have learned from him despite his circumstances. Especially in Philippians 2:1–16, he urges them to remember what Christ has done for them and to imitate His behavior.
